No 3 9th September 2009 Hi Everyone I am still behind with blog but doing my best to bring you up to date with more speed as to where I am now! This is what I wrote from 8th September up until 17th September 2009 When I set off on my trip to Singapore would you believe I sat on the plane next to a lovely couple from Bristol! They told me to go and see Singapore’s pink dolphins! I promised them I would! I arrived in Singapore on 9.9.9, 30 minutes before Jeff how good was that? It was great to reconnect and see him again! So many mixed feelings and emotions sad to have left England leaving everyone behind, but happy to start a new adventure with Jeff wherever that takes me! After settling in at the hotel, we set off to explore Singapore, what a beautiful place, I loved it and new it would be a fantastic place to discover. We had 6 quality days getting to know each other, enjoying all the sights that were on offer! If any of you have the chance to travel to Australia I would definitely recommend a stop-over here for a day or two. One of the first things to hit you when you land is the humidity! It was 34 degrees like walking into a sauna. One of our first trips was to go the Botanical gardens what a beautiful place that was, we spent a whole day there wandering round and taking lots of photos. I was in awe of the beautiful scenery and colours, the Orchid garden was stunning but even better was a Ginger garden and the smell was divine. There were so many different gardens each beautiful in their own right! The next day we went to Singapore Zoo what an amazing place that was; everything so spacious and colourful. Amongst the many things I saw and the most exciting for me were the white tigers they were so beautiful to see close up. The elephants were a joy to watch and I sat for ages just watching them, it was amazing to see a crocodile so close and so big!! The many species of birds were stunning again many colours and shapes (beats Bristol Zoo any day)! It was a different world. Even though I am not a lover of animals in captivity, I do like to go and acknowledge them, giving thanks for what they do for human kind, how else would you get to see them so close? The next day with excitement we set off for Santosa Island to connect with the six pink dolphins that lived there. They wanted two volunteers to get into the water with them; Jeff was the first and also had his first dolphin kiss, competition already! (Picture will be added). Whilst on the island we set off over a long suspended rope bridge, before you crossed it, the sign read – “it was the southernmost point of Asia continent” This was something that I never ever expected to see or cross in my lifetime! One evening we took a visit to Chinatown and Little India wow what amazing colouful places they were. Little India was the place that really stood out for me as the streets were decorated, colourful and packed, with not much room to move between people, they were all on push bikes or in cars that were beeping everywhere the place was alive and buzzing, just like parts of India I imagine? Then we had a look at Chinatown what a contrast, there was no comparison! The next day we hopped on a tour bus and that was great way to have a look at Singapore. Then it was time to say goodbye to Singapore and Hello to Australia!!!!!!!!!!!! On Thursday 15th September I wrote ….. Just to let you know I have arrived safe and sound in Australia, never envisioned I would be writing to you all from down under!!! We arrived here in Australia on Tuesday morning to be greeted by beautiful sunshine and a cloudless sky, as you would imagine! I stood outside the airport looking around, I really felt like an Alien who had just landed on a different planet, it was a strange feeling, all sorts of worries were going through my mind, most of all how was I going to get on here? What else had the universe in store for me? We arrived at Jeff’s home with a lovely welcome from his mum Noeline and his dog Cosmo. We had breakfast with plenty to talk about! Jet lag had caught up with me, I slept on and off for the next few! I woke in the morning to be greeted by some very, very strange bird sounds, I listened for ages they all seemed very noisy, and I think it was the welcoming committee. Well that’s it for now, thank you all once again for all your lovely well wishes etc. Love and Dolphin hugs Andrena xx |
