Welcome to the home of Logan City Athletics and Atheltics Logan

Radio FM88 supports Athletics as an opportunity for families to get together, more importantly when Queensland Government introduced public liability insurance and the local council took away the rights to fund raise (ie ..car washing, making & selling home baked cakes & scones at your events and introducing draconic measures to have a sausage sizzle). Clubs like Logan City Athletics and Logan City Hockey found it extremely tough to make ends meet.

From the year 2000 Logan City Athletics has not held an event in Logan City eventually with no home ground advantage and all events moved into more accommodating Brisbane City, membership wilted whereupon I would suggest today they would be lucky to cast a shadow in the midday sun and this was the largest Athletics Club in South East Queensland with over 380 participating members in all age groups.

The lack of a club house and revenue from pokie (slot) machines and refreshment sales impacted further on these voluntary groups of Aussie doers. Rather then becoming self empowered and continuing the great Australian comradeship of building a club they along with every other sporting and charity group were turned into professional beggars asking Federal or State Government and even the Local Council for a grant (how ironic is that). But it was the plethora of add on costs for the individual to become affiliated with Queensland Athletics with the dream to participate at Commonwealth, Olympic games and World Championships that basically turned many away from the sport.

This eventually saw (8) eight of the (15) fifteen Brisbane athletic clubs breakaway and form Queensland Running Inc. This has seen a return to the grass roots of life itself, getting kids away from computers and participating in nurturing and oxygenating their body and more importantly the brain. We have giving Logan City Athletics free airtime for some 15 years or more and this web site is our way of continuing our support for all those years of dedication to athletics by both Noelle and Pat.

If you feel empowered to help in anyway just pick up the phone and speak with either Noelle or Pat and get a feel for what they need or more importantly get out of the house and do the 800 metre fun walk. Just click this years Saturday program for venues.
