Welcome to the home of Logan City Athletics and
Athletics Logan Radio FM88 supports Athletics as an opportunity for families to get together, more importantly when Queensland Government introduced public liability insurance and the local council took away the rights to fund raise (ie.. car washing, making & selling home baked cakes & scones at your events and introducing draconic measures to have a sausage sizzle. Clubs like Logan City Athletics and Logan City Hockey found it extremely tough to make ends meet. The lack of a club house and revenue from pokie (slot) machines and refreshment sales impacted further on these voluntary groups of Aussie doers. Rather then becoming self empowered and continuing the great Australian comradeship of building a club they along with every other sporting and charity group were been turned into professional beggars asking Federal or State Government and even the Local Council for a grant (how ironic is that). But it was the plethora of add on costs for the individual to become affiliated with Queensland Athletics with the dream to participate at Commonwealth, Olympic games and World Championships that basically turned many away from the sport. This eventually saw eight (8) of the fifteen (15) Brisbane athletic clubs breakaway and form Queensland Running. This has seen a return to the grass roots of life itself, getting kids away from computers and participating in nurturing and oxygenating their body and more importantly the brain ..... its for all these reasons why I have decided that we would support the years and dedication to athletics by Noelle and Pat by supplying a web home for Logan City Athletics.
