Sedona

We flew with Alaskan Airlines ex Los Angeles terminal 3 direct into Flagstaff airport (top left) this makes for a 26 mile drive down highway 89 A straight into Sedona. Most people choose to fly into Phoenix and drive the 119 miles (2 & 1/2 hours) to Sedona after a 13 hour flight from Australia this was not an option for us. So for first timers like us the views down Oak Creek Canyon and into Sedona were awesome and just what the doctor ordered. (If you click the photos they will expand onto another page)

Cathedral and Bell Rock are names that will be thrown up at you by fellow travelers and brochures so here they are (photos above)

Sedona airport sits on its own plateau high above the town of Sedona it's so strange to actually drive above the town to go to the airport, you get the impression this is the home of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Yes, they do joy flights by light plane or helicopter in and around Sedona and its canyons.
The local by-laws for exterior construction of houses and dwellings to blend in with the surrounds have definitely helped Sedona keep its tranquility and reverence.
